This tool will help you calculate the weight of steel based on its dimensions and shape.
How to Use the Steel Load Calculator
To use this steel load calculator, fill in the required fields and click on the “Calculate” button.
Length: Enter the length of the steel piece in meters.
Width: Enter the width of the steel piece in meters.
Thickness: Enter the thickness of the steel piece in meters.
Density: The density of the steel in kilograms per cubic meter. This is usually 7850 kg/m³ for mild steel and is pre-filled for your convenience. If your steel density differs, you can change this value.
Quantity: Enter the number of steel pieces you need to calculate the load for.
After filling out all fields, click “Calculate” to get the total weight in kilograms.
How the Calculator Works
The calculator computes the volume of the steel piece using the formula:
Volume = Length × Width × Thickness
Then it multiplies the volume by the density to find the weight of one piece:
Weight = Volume × Density
Finally, it multiplies the weight of one piece by the quantity to get the total load:
Total Load = Weight × Quantity
Limitations
This calculator assumes that the steel piece has a uniform density and a rectangular shape. If your steel piece has a different shape or varying density, the calculated result may not be accurate. Always consult with a structural engineer for precise load calculations in critical applications.
